MODEN'G

I aspired to create a collection that celebrates female empowerment. Hence, I drew inspiration from two significant periods of the Eastern and Western History – the Tang Dynasty and the 1940s.

The Tang Dynasty was renowned for lavish times and great beauties. It wasalso the era of the first female emperor, Wu Ze Tian. This marked anunprecedented and supreme level of power for Chinese women. The 1940s was a time of rising feminism and women were increasingly integrated into the workforce. Hence, the fashion of this era also saw more
masculine and liberating silhouettes such as pants.
Female empowerment to me is about confidence, vibrancy, liberation and self-expression; to embrace what you love and be comfortable. Drawing inspiration from these two periods, I infused elements such as sharper silhouettes such as pants, suits, bold colours, Chinese paintings, motifs and flowers like Mu Dan.

My collection is true to my brand, being a personal narrative of what feminism feels and looks like. This is also in-line with my design philosophy to create clothes that accentuate the beauty within women, enabling them to feel good.
The outfits in my collection shall remain functional for daily wear alongside the compelling details that relates to history, art and nature.
