Jesslyn Siew.

Born and bred in Singapore, a city that is known for scientific and business developments but hardly on the arts and design aspects, growing up felt like an awkward child in an incompatible environment at times for the designer. The pragmatic environment was unsuitable to nurture a designer’s dream. Hence she struggled to suppress it and continue on a ‘normal’ route that was seemingly more acceptable in society.  She took up a diploma in Business Entrepreneurship and subsequently found employment in the business sectors. Yet, there was an inevitable nagging that this was not what she wants to do in life. Undeterred, she decided to re-engage in her passion and started to design and tailor garments for friends and family during her free time.

In 2013, the decision was finally made to change her life path. She quit her job and enrolled into a Fashion Design degree programme with Nottingham Trent University. Despite a lack of prior knowledge, determination and a keen eye for details has kept her going. The three year degree programme was an eye-opening experience as she gained insights on professional techniques and industry standards, and in the midst gradually establishes her own design philosophy and style in womenswear and accessories.
